About this role
What you would do
Tomchei Shabbos: pack and distribute boxes of food twice a month
Zimmerman Urban Community Garden: plant, weed and harvest the garden from April through November
Coffee House: help with recreational activities, serve food and engage clients with Alzheimer's and dementia
Cafe Europa: serve food, engage with Holocaust survivors and take on assigned duties
Reading Buddies: read to elementary school students for an hour a week at a local school
Friendly Visitor: give companionship, read mail, arrange medical appointments and help with grocery shopping
Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey serves people across Union County, including seniors, Holocaust survivors and families who need food. The kosher food pantry runs out of the Elizabeth office on set weekday shifts. Other programs meet people at home, at the garden or in a community room. The agency says volunteers of all ages are welcome, and it provides training and tools where they are needed.
