About this role
What you would do
Outreach Run: hand out brown bag lunches, hot soup, kits and clothing to people experiencing homelessness
Outreach Run: work in a team and talk with clients during a run of about two hours
Soup Warming: heat soup and drinks in the Summit kitchen and load them into insulated containers
Client Service Days: help with food service and fill requests for clothing and hygiene kits
Client Service Days: light food prep, dishwashing, and preparing the shower and laundry areas
Packing events: assemble brown bag lunches, hygiene kits, cold weather kits and warm weather kits
Organize a drive for bagged lunches, clothing, seasonal essentials or bottled water
Bridges Outreach reaches people who are unhoused in Newark, Irvington and Rahway from its base in Summit. Street runs go out in the morning and last about two hours. Kitchen work, packing and drives happen indoors for volunteers who prefer that setting.
