About this role
What you would do
Messenger: deliver flowers, gifts and charts, escort visitors and accompany patients to appointments
Emergency Department: serve as a patient liaison, helping patients and visitors in the ED
Gift Shop: work the cash register or arrange merchandise displays at the Gift Shop & Bloom
Information Desk: assist callers and visitors in person and over the phone
Mealtime Assistance: set up trays, open food packages and help patients who need light feeding support
Delirium Prevention Bedside Companion: visit adult patients at the bedside with therapeutic activities and company
Music Therapy: provide piano and guitar music for visitors and guests in the main hospital lobby
Soothing Paws Dog Therapy: bring a certified therapy dog to designated areas of the hospital
Overlook Medical Center in Summit is a busy hospital where volunteers handle the non-clinical side of patient care. The work puts students in front of patients, families and staff on every shift, so a calm and friendly manner matters. Volunteers are asked for four consecutive hours a week and at least one year of service.
