What you would do

Matheny School: assist teachers in classrooms, help with adaptive learning activities and read with students
Hospital: give companionship, help with non-clinical patient needs and support recreation on the units
Life Enrichment Therapies: help with games, crafts and other activities for residents
Adult Day Programs: assist instructors in art, music, life skills and recreation classes and encourage participation
Arts Access Program: set up materials, support rehearsals and help with exhibitions and performances
Pet Therapy: bring a certified therapy dog to visit residents
Special events: help with holiday celebrations, ceremonies and fundraisers such as Miles for Matheny

Matheny is a special hospital and school in Peapack for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Volunteers work next to teachers, therapists and staff, and much of the job is presence and encouragement. Programs run on the main Peapack campus and at the Hillsborough Adult Learning Center. Health and safety requirements apply to everyone who volunteers there.
